Message from the President

Welcome to the Rotary Club of Makati West (RCMW) website

Thank you for visiting our site

Allow me to share a few highlights of our Club and this website.

RCMW was founded in November 1969.

For the past 53 years, our club has been at the forefront of providing community service, for which Rotary is known worldwide. We have about 129 members at the top of their profession with one Past Rotary International Director, a total of five Rotary Past District Governors, and a District Governor Elect. You may find more information on our history in the section, “50 Years of Service”.

At the heart of everything we do is a determination to help others.   We are proud of our achievements and are always seeking to do more. Our club’s culture is our strength. It has been the driver of our club’s success as well as the center of the club’s value proposition. We are a spirited, lively, fun-loving club with a strong sense of commitment to the service of others.

For first time visitors, I would like to suggest getting started with the section on “Committees”. Our flagship project, the “Gift of Life (GOL) Program” provides free heart operations for poor children with congenital heart disease.  Since inception, we have made a total of 3,577 surgical procedures including diagnostics tests have been completed, with 1,668 In RY 21-22 alone.

Our other major projects are: “Gift of Sight”, which provides free eye care and cataract surgeries. We are proud to have assisted  103 patients’ visions in RY 21-22 and 514  since inception. Our “Gift of Mobility” project has made available 124 free artificial limbs in RY 20-21 and 1,025 since inception.

Membership to RCMW is open to all nationalities, with 60% of our members between the ages of 41-60.  The club provides opportunities for our members to grow and build the club by being able to give back and share their blessings and talents. They have fun with trusted friends.  In time, they are able to expand their network of friends and businesses- through participation in our projects and weekly meetings and chats.

We have regular noon weekly meetings on Thursdays via zoom and in Dusit Thani for in-person meetings.

We hold regular “Fireside Chats (FSC) ” that are attended by a dozen or so members. Most FSC are led by our members with mainly non-business topics like dining out,  alcohol, hobbies and their own specific interests like: cars, travel and enthusiasts of things like cars, travel and personal collections.

We are a club made up of committed individuals- who enjoy working and serving side by side- focused on making a difference in our community and the world.

Please check out the archive of our weekly bulletin in the section, “West Side Story”. If you have any questions, you may write to us by going to the section, “Contact Us”. Thank you!
