- Adrian Cruz
Adrian was operated in DLSMC on August 6, 2020 for PDA Device Closure. He was 16 years old then. He is the youngest of 9 siblings. His sister said he was very sickly from the time he was born. His lips became black when crying and had severe asthma. They brought him to a pediatrician and was endorsed to a pediatric cardiologist. They went to PGH for further management but were not scheduled due to limited resources. The elder sisters saved money for his 2D Echo. He was already a teenager when the 1st test was done. It was a great burden to the family when they learned that he needs an urgent surgery. The father, (50) lost his job and became a pedicab driver while mother (60) is jobless. Life for the family was miserable before Adrian’s surgery.
His sister searched the internet and found a post from Jaden and Friends regarding PDA cases. One of the parent beneficiaries saw her message and replied to her queries. Adrian was endorsed to Dra. Louisa Go and PDA Device Closure was scheduled. It was a happy moment for the whole family when Adrian was discharged and fully recovered. They were grateful to RCMW who sponsored Adrian’s procedure
Adrian is now 18 years old and a full scholar in FEU- Roosevelt because of high grades, an LGU scholarship for low income families. He is in Grade 11, online class.
